Sewing Machine Operator- Chattanooga TN - 2nd Shift
Minimal Skills, Knowledge and Ability Requirements 1.
Ability to work cooperatively with others both within the department and externally.
2.
Technical knowledge of the processes and equipment with 3-5 years related work experience in a manufacturing environment.
3.
High school or equivalent diploma is preferred.
4.
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
5.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
Ability to read a tape measure.
6.
Ability to read work orders and patterns.
7.
Sew complete bag to customer specifications.
8.
Ability to solve problems using formalized problem solving techniques.
Ability to understand basic processes and methodically improve them.
9.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including mandatory overtime.
Duties and Responsibilities 1.
Start sewing machinery at the beginning of a shift and test it for proper functionality.
2.
Ensure that all materials and parts are available and gather prior to beginning work.
3.
Address any problems found while sewing 4.
Draw threads through needles and adjust the machine 5.
Position materials under needles to sew them together 6.
Replace and rethread needles 7.
Sew missing stitches or replacement parts in accordance to repair instructions provided 8.
Observe operations to detect any faults or defects 9.
Notify supervisors of any problems or discrepancies during the sewing process 10.
Attach parts as specified in the work order 11.
Ensure that the finished product conforms to the instructions provided in the work order 12.
Ensure that excess material or threads are cut away from the finished product 13.
Trim finished bags using scissors and cutters 14.
Perform some preventative maintenance such as cleaning and oiling the machine.
15.
Other duties as assigned.
Pay Rate- $12.
